Melamine mugs leaking

In October last year we purchased 4 melamine mugs to compliment our new caravan. On the first outing we made a cup of coffee and the mugs cracked and leaked. We reported this to the supplier and they were very
quickly exchanged, with the excuse that it must have been a faulty batch, no problem.

We used the new mugs last weekend and the very same thing happened. I emailed the manufacturer and the reply was that melamine will crack under extreme changes in temperature, although the spec says upto 140
degrees cent. The last line of the e mail is copied below:-

'Please make sure for future use not to fill up your mugs at too high temperature difference (water not over 85°C), then you will be able to enjoy your mugs for a long time.'

Has anybody had the same problem with melamine, I would be interested to know

Hopefully this information is useful to you.
