Toyota Avensis and Swift Accord suitable?

Hi All,

I'm hoping that someone may be able to offer some advice.  I have been offered a 2007 Toyota Avensis Hatchback, 1.8 litre, Automatic, Petrol car for a great price, but it has 150,000 miles on the clock.

I am looking to see if it will tow a Swift Accord 480 (2 berth).

I have looked at the match outfit resource on the club site and it says it's a possible match.

The kerbweight of the Toyota is 1250-1300kgs and the MIRO of the swift is 1090 with a MLPTM of 1275.  I cannot track down anywhere the Gross Train Weight for the Avensis.

We often keep the caravan empty when towing (just a gas bottle, couple of chairs and TV and a few items of clothing), so do you think the car would be capable?

I am currently towing with a 2 litre diesel Freelander, but it's on the way out so am looking for alternatives.

Can anyone suggest if the Toyota will be suitable?  I am consious that it is over the 85% rule - how much of a difference does that make?  I've been towing for about 2 years now.

Would appreciate any help or guidance you can suggest - the deal I've been offered on the Toyota is great, but my other worry is the 150,000 miles on the clock - it's been very well looked after - will the towing be too much for it (that is, iif it's suitable
for towing my Swift in the first place).

Thanks in advance for your help.

Richard
