Hi does any one tow with a Mitsubishi Phev just about to get one wondered what they towed like on electric

    I think most hybrids use the electric bit under light load. Put any real load/ or tow on and you will be using the petrol bit.

    Even the MitsubishI dealers do not recommend the PHEV for towing, change to a diesel. the real world economy of the PHEV on long runs is also very poor.

    Just waiting on delivery of our PHEV too and have done a bit of research, but obviously don't have experience yet. But from what I have read Cyberyacht is correct. I am not expecting anything from the batteries when towing, well maybe just slowly around town. I am expecting the petrol engine to do all the work and again not expecting great performance from the 2 litre petrol. Reckon it'll need revved with plenty of gear changes. Looking forward to replies to you post from caravanners with experience of towing with PHEV.

    I am a little puzzled why manfacturers have not produced a diesel/electric hybrid.

    Try Volvo V40, Range Rover, Peugeot 508 and DS5, all available as hybrid diesels.

    Just phoned the club to find out what the policy is on charging hybrids on-site, via the van. It appears there isn't one. I was advised to call ahead / ask the wardens at each site. The power output of the site was mentioned, as it needs to be a minimum
    of 10amps to charge the car.

    Towed for the first time this weekend average 25 miles on battery towed really well overhaul on 55 mile journey 72% on battery really pleased

    25 miles does sound like good battery range towing. Unfortunately, most of our trips are well in excess of that. Good to hear that it was a solid tow though. The low centre of gravity I presume will help stability 

    We are getting about 20 solo around town which is enough for the daily commute, picking up the kids etc etc. 300 miles 2.5 gallons in 2 weeks.

    Another PHEV owner on another forum has confirmed that they , after asking the warden, were allowed to charge on site.

    I would have to say that when I checked with Head office, there did seem to be a little confusion and indecision on this matter.
