EBay - Ordering from non UK suppliers
Received a Cadac 2 Cooker Supreme today - ordered on Ebay and supplied by Roeben Gas in Germany. The price was attractive [very] and availability was ex stock. I have been using an identical model for years [and years] but wanted to update to the one on legs.
Unfortunately the cooker was not supplied with a "gas hose tail" and after a bit of Emailing back and forth with the supplier it turns out that the cooker is to a "German specific" spec which doesn't include a "tail". Further investigation as to the difference between German and UK / General European spec flagged up that the Supreme was jetted for 50mb gas supply. To be fair to Roeben there was reference to 50mb within the description on EBay which I assumed was a "misprinted" 30mb. Clearly I was wrong and I should have been more careful. Having said this a friend also ordered the same product and made the same mistake. Nowhere within the product description on EBay was - that this was not compatible with the general European 28-30/37 gas pressure standard regulator.
The moral to this story is be very careful when ordering from non uk suppliers as you may be buying a non UK spec useable product. I thought I was fairly sharp and street wise but obviously not sharp enough.
Many thanks to Iain Harris at Cadac Uk who has talked me through what needs to be done to make the Cooker compatible with my Elegance 645 and hopefully is going to make the parts available to me. I formed the impression that this is not the first time that this has happened and its a bit of a vexation. It's to the credit of Cadac Uk that they are happy to help me extricate myself from my latest bit of stupidity.
