Beechwood Grange [York] dog walking

Off to Beechwood Grange next week with the grandchildren and Mac Mutt. Mac expects an hour walk both morning and afternoon - not that we are slaves to him you understand. There is a dog walk area on site but animals are specifically excluded from the site
approach roads.

Does anyone know of a good dog walking area close to the site that would suite a big black Labrador who likes a good run and interesting smells. Somewhere to swim [dog not me] would also be good. Know we will have to drive to it so this not a problem.
