The AL-KO wheel locks look to be pretty much thief proof.

Just wondering if anyone has knowledge of any  caravans fitted with these locks being successfully stolen.

I think if so its very few,we have one,the thing about them is the wheel and receiver have to be lined up exactly to enable lock to fit

Our friends had a alko lock as caravan was parked on their drive. Came home after work one night and caravan was gone, neighbour said lorry came with hiab and craned it on back and drove away. Said they thought it was dealer doing some work on it, never
    seen again

Equipped with the right knowledge and tools, I think a thief can undo/disarm many security devices quicker than the owner could with the ‘proper’ mechanism.

Nothing will stop the determined thief but you can make it more difficult by raising the amount of knowledge, time, tools and ingenuity to get around a security device. I like the ALKO easy to fit, smallish to carry and well engineered.

Did they manage to remove the alko or had the caravan been lifted onto a low loader or possibly a twin axle with only one wheel lock?

The alko wheel lock was removed by burning through it with gas cutting equipment. Talking to an alko rep. at NEC show some time later he said they had now modified them by filling with non conbustable material, he gave no more details.  A police officer
at the same show said he had been to quite a few cases that this had happened at ,  in one instance the gas cutter had accidently blown up the tyre.

A thief tried this on our van. The whole van caught fire. I was just left with a pile of twisted metal. There was nothing else left.

Just purchased a little 'van. First one. Read all about security, seems like the friendly happy travelling folk have a cottage industry going in nicking these things. Tried the Alko customer service line? Its hilarious and directs you back to the website,
zzzzzzzzzzzz......think I've worked out which one I need now, but really put off by members comments and customer service line. MMMMM, looking at alternatives now, I'll take the insurance hit....buying something shouldn't be that difficult. Sorry Alko, big
    thumbs down.
