Honda CRV alarm fault

Last weekend my CRV alarm developed a fault, the indicator lights wouldn't flash when locking the car with the remote key fob. The alarm then started sounding at 5am and woke me up, and possibly my neighbours. That afternoon I had topped up the windsreen washer bottle. The garage confirmed that the alarm sensor on the bonnet catch had corroded due to taking the brunt of the weather through the front grill. New sensor and the problem fixed, it's worth knowing about.
