Shower Problem

My adjustable shower head holder has disintigrated (cheap plastic job) and I can't find a way to remove the vertical riser bar from within the shower unit - which I need to do to fit a replacement.  Anyone come across one that just clps on ? or have any
other suggestions.

Van is a 2006 Fleetwood Meridien 480/2EB - so I can't ask the manufacturer !!
