Thetford toilet blowing fuses.

My caravan is fitted with a Thetford C-200 S/CS toilet which has the electric flush. During our trip away over Easter the electric pump stopped working, the 3amp fuse which is situated just above the cassette had blown. I replaced the fuse with another 3amp
and after a few uses, not immediately, of the flush that also blew. I took a chance and replaced it with a 5amp and that didn't blow so we were ok for the rest of the trip. Is this a sign that the pump in the header tank is developing a fault and is coming
to the end of it's life? Has anyone had a similar problem and found a cause? Has anyone experience of replacing a pump for the flush? I assume access is by removing the plate where the press switch is. The caravan manual is generic and next to useless, although
a wiring diagram which might?? apply to my van doesn't have any fuses less than 10amp. Any ideas?
