Smart Meters

I received a leaflet from my electricity supplier inviting me to have a Smart meter fitted. The new meter would also have a transmission hub and a display box with a screen. Hmm. My meter is in a cupboard and tight on space, so I phoned up and asked for the dimensions. The young lady had no idea, didn't want to find out and told me my question was 'bizzare'. The leaflet went in the shredder. Any experiences out there?
