Checking Gas Levels

Hi all,

 

Can anybody guide me on how to check how much gas I have left in the bottle?  I am sure I must be running low, but don't want to carry 2 bottles unless I have to.  I have a 6KG Propane bottle at present.  Any advice gratefully received.
