It became clear on the weekend, when exiting the Longleat CC site via a diverted route, that my tow car has limits.  Limits which a hill start very nearly exceeded.  Because of the diverted exit I had to stop at a barrier on a reasonable incline.  The resultant
reek of burning clutch when I tried to pull off told me that I almost didn't make it... Time to figure out how I am going to afford either a Volvo XC60 D5 auto or a BMW X3 30d auto....
