Water taps and showers

After reading another thread on this forum about showers, I wondered if it is becoming more of an advantage to have a water tap near to your pitch so that you can connect up for a shower etc.  If so where is the best point for a tap, to the rear of each
van, or two taps mounted on a post midway between vans. Is there a standard length of water pipe you carry in caravans ?. Just thinking about a little project for the Winter if it was to be an advantage for enjoying holidays.
