Thetford toilet.
I have been a member of the CC for many years but this is my first post on this forum.
Recently I saw that Thetford were offerring a free replacemet drain for their cassette toilet. I had bought my Bailey Pegasus new some 18months before this advert. On using the van for the very first time The toilet leaked badly form the flushing system.
I contacted the suppliers Discover (no wonder they went bust) from our holiday site in North Wales. I was told that there was no way they could help being so far from their base in Delamere. I arranged for a local repairer to replace the water pump the
end of which had come off. I had to arrange for Discover to send a new pump and it was fitted a week into our holiday. I am disabled and the trek to the site fascilities ruined the holiday. On getting home I contacted Discover, Baileys and Thetford about
my experiences.
Even though Thetford did reply to my complaint. When I applied for the free drain they didn't have a record of me contacting them so I had to supply all my details again. It is obvious that my original complaint was filed in the bin.
By the way on our journey home the O/S wheel bearing collapsed, a very frightening experience which required the van to be removed from a very busy dual carriageway on a low loader.
I am not impressed by the caravan industry, I contacted Discover, Baileys, Thetford, Al Ko the caravan club and their legal dept, the caravan council, Black Horse who finanaced the purchase. and in the end the caravan council, to no avail. The CC didn't
even publish my letter. I am to say the least disillusioned.
