Fuel consumption Fiat Ducato v Peugeot Boxer

I have noticed an increase in fuel consumption since replacing my Peugeot based Compass Avantgarde with a Fiat based Swift Escape. These vehicles share the 2.2l diesel engine but I suspect that the Fiat has a different gearbox with lower gearing.

Has anyone else had the same experience ?
