Hi all

As a compliment complete newbe I have just taken a bulb out that no longer works, it is the small screw in type that looke to have a halogen type filament inside the outer glas bulb. It works on a dimmer switch. There are no markings on the bulb. Question;
Is this a specialist bulb or can I just pick somethings similar up at a hardware shop? Thanks in advance for any advice.

    I am assuming these are 12 volt bulbs. We were able to get some from B&Q or Halfords and others from the shop at our caravan dealer. However, personally I would be looking to replace with compatible LED's. Have a look at this web site, they are very good.

    Thank you for your reply, this poses another question I thought all the lighting worked both on battery and mains. Is this assumption wrong?

    Some bulbs are 12 volt while others might be 240 volt ...... they're not compatible with each other. Their fittings will (should) prevent you from putting the wrong type in.

    My last caravan had some domestic 240 volt lighting but my  new one is almost all 12v led

    12 volt DC is still 'power' Innocent but it won't give you a shock.

    LED bulbs don't dim unless you buy special dimming ones, which are difficult/ impossible to obtain in some smaller sizes. All halogen bulbs can be dimmed.

    Thanks for your help. I knew you couldnt fit a house bulb to a torch and not just because of the size but for some reason this logic didn't transfer to the van as I thought the same lights worked of battery and mains like the cooker. Just as well I didn't
    set off to look for a gas light!
