Rhayader stop over

I have been through the village many times in the past just remembering it for the cramped crossroads and narrow roads in the centre and have just realised what a hidden gem I have been missing all these years.
There is a riverside (commercial) campsite right next to the river and a spacious car park next to the livestock market. This small village has a museum, several parks and delightful riverside walks. When I visited at the end of July there were children
paddling and having a great time in the riverside park by the bridge. The low river after a dry spell reveals the water sculptured rocks below spate levels that would keep a photographer or artist's attention.
Plenty of tea rooms and individual shops complete the village. With few tourists it was a nice chance to see a traditional Mid-Wales village at its best.
Anyone else found a hidden gem in this part of the world?
