Any experience of diesel heating/water heater?

After 27 years of caravanning we are considering buying a motorhome. We are looking at an Auto-Trail 590ek. It comes with a diesel heating system which heats the m/h and the hot water. I have no experience of this type of system. Can anyone who has used
a m/h with this type of heating advice me of its pro's and con's.
