We'd not planned to go far for Easter as the Mrs was supposed to be working.  That's changed now and we'd like to head up to Yorkshire (Dales or Moors, it doesn't matter)

Unsuprisingly, the CC sites are booked up, as I would expect them to be, so I am looking recommendations for a tidy commercial site or CL. Don't need arcades or swimming pools but would like a dog friendly pub within staggering distance.

Thanks ever so much in advance.

Hi Scarletsfan - I know not the dales or moors but you could consider the Fantastic little Hebden Bridge site in West Yorkshire. Has availablity for Easter. Its a great location with dog friendly pubs within a 10 minute walk. Might be worth a look

Ashfield House CL  at Lockton, between Pickering and Whitby. Basic but very nice level CL, pub about mile away, great for getting out all over NY moors. Pub is Fox and Rabbit, this and sister pub at Levisham are as dog friendly as they come, every dog gets
a biscuit! Good safe dog walk direct from CL. Fox and Rabbit Pub also has a CL, just remembered!

    Hi Scarletsfan,

A site we stayed on a few years ago was St Helens in the Park between Pickering & Scarborough. It provided good access to either North York Moors or the Yorkshire coast. Location on edge of village with pub.

Plenty of places for dog walking, cycle rides and easy to get to the Yorkshire Dales / Moors and a nice pub (£1.80 a pint and dog friendly) a few minutes walk.

Nice walk into Harrogate or Knaresborough, trains to York if you do not want to drive.

If you are a CCC member why not try the Slingsby CCC site;our favourite site in our home county.Look at where it is and you will see how well situated it is for visiting the attractions of the county.Walking and cycling directly from the site are excellent
and there is a good pub with good food a short walk away in the village. We use it a lot for short breaks as it is only an hour away via the M1,Leeds by pass and A64.

I will let you in on a secret - there are the Wolds in Yorkshire which provide excellent walking and cycling but we Tykes keep them to ourselves; Hockney keeps painting them and letting the outsiders in on the secret.Get there before the rest do!

A couple of years ago we stayed at Whitby Holiday Park it is a commercial site but very good and as the site is on top of a cliff you get some great sea views from your pitch. The facilities were very good and they have an on site bar which was decent and had entertainment on most nights in the main function suite or there was a quet bar more like a traditional pub so something for everyone really. The site is only a 20 minute walk from Whitby town centre so very handy is you don't fancy driving.

    Hope this helps

    Hi Scarletsfan,

We often go to Wombleton Caravan Park for short breaks.  It's between Helmsley & Kirkbymoorside, and is sandwiched between the Moors to the North & the Wolds to the South.  About a 15min walk to the local Dog Friendly pub, The Plough, and is on the edge of a former RAF airfield, with lots of flat dog walking available.  There is also a excellent curry house a couple of miles away!

    Paul.
