Reading New Fiat Ducato/Peugeot Boxer Speedometer.
This is with regard to reading, (or not) the speedometer on the latest model of Fiat Ducato motorhomes.
I had the previous model with no problems by the way and have good eyesight!!
(Not sure whether it applies to Peugeot Boxer vehicles as well).
Lets face it Fiat/Peugeot have developed this cab/chassis specifically for the left hand drive market and adapted it for motorhome use.
Right hand drive conversions cause the problem............
I have a Burster 726 G Sovereign.
Reading the speedometer is extremely difficult for the following reasons.
1. Small size.
2. Speedometer was designed for left hand drive vehicles and would therefore sit near the light, (window) on those vehicles. Right hand drive models block out the daylight and it becomes unreadable.
3. Red and black makes it difficult to read .
4. With the lights on at night it is quite dim, (you can’t turn it up any more).
5. Near on impossible to read KPH, as have just come back from Europe.
6. Motorhomes make it even worse due to the home living space above the cab.
7.The instrument cluster shroud blocks out the readable/available light.
etc etc.
I have complained to Fiat Professional and have had a reply.
“They are aware of the problems as they have had many complaints from RHD owners. However, the very helpful and kind lady was a bit "Reluctant" to give me the exact numbers, (only to be expected).
They have submitted the complaints, but at present they can’t offer any customer resolutions as it would need a recall.
They do forward complaints to head office.
Customer Services will send me a £75 service voucher for a service, (the fact they recognise there is a problem).
However, I will be buying a GPS device to assist in the mean time.
I was wondering as a Club whether other members who may be having problems?
At the end of the day the more complaints they receive then at some point they WILL have to do something about it.
I AM aware that this problem also applies to other Fiat Van type of vehicles due to conversations with Bristol dealerships.
Your views/problems would be appreciated and if we receive enough comments then it can be sent to Fiat.
Look forward to hearing from you.
