Grill won't stay lit

Hi,

Whilst making crab apple jelly my saucepan overflowed and the sticky juice went down the hole in the middle of the hobs.

I tried to clean down there with a damp cloth but it's tricky with little room for maneovre.

Unfortunately the grill won't stay lit any more, I guess the FFD is not working properly.

Any suggestions for how to fix this? A thorough clean somehow?
