A good few weeks ago I had a problem with the speed humps on a site - they triggered my van's ATC because they were staggered and so threw the outfit from side to side.  I wrote:

"While I understand that the humps are needed, because there are so many people who are incapable of keeping to the speed limit, the ones here are arranged in staggered pairs.  This means they act on one axle then the other, this being repeated 3 times for a single-axle van.  In my case, it also triggered the Al-Ko ATC, bringing the trailer brakes on and eventually stalling the engine.  I feel this may be damaging to the outfit and quite unnecessary.

The speed bumps should not be staggered, but arranged straight across the road."

I have eventually received the reply: "I  was sorry to read that  you incurred difficulty  with the speed humps on the above site which  resulted in triggering your brake lights but as you so rightly mentioned  speed humps are  a very important way of providing a safe traffic  management system on site.   The reason why the speed humps are staggered on  this site, is  to fulfil  the criteria for wheel chair access on site and therefore it is not possible to implement your suggestion of having them straight across the road".

First, I never mentioned brake lights, and second, does anyone know of any other site where the humps are in staggered pairs?  Certainly not on any of the other sites we have visited.  It would be so nice to be taken seriously.
