Does anyone understand the Whale Watermaster IC?

My new caravan comes with a Whale watermaster connection and a Whale "Premium" pump. The Watermaster IC controller (which stops the pump if the tank runs dry, controls pulsing etc etc) looks useful, but says you need a Whale "HIgh Flow" pump - another 30
quid. Does anyone know why this is so, or whether it is just a sales ploy?
