Reasonably priced familypetrol towcar hard to find

I'm looking to change my 2007 2.0 diesel (pre DPF) x-type jaguar saloon.  I do a lot of short 2 or 3 mile trips, and I have ruled out a newer diesel as they all have the dam DPF's, which would cause me problems.

My quest is to fine a similar sized 4 / 5 door reasonably priced petrol engined car, capable of towing a 1,350Kg caravan, so tow car should be approx 1,600Kg on the 85% recomendation.  Mondeo sized would be ideal.

However, it looks as though they don't exist anymore, as they all apear to be turbo diesel, so I'm having to consider a Mondeo 1.6 ecoboost.  Not ideal but it might do.

Anybody got any suggestions / ideas?
