Autotrail (Trigano) Tribute 670 Motorhome, Fault?

I have a Tribute 670 Van Conversion motorhome based on a Fiat Ducato chasis. Between the seats in the front cab is rubber flooring and it has a U-shaped tear in the flooring - a definite split.

My dealer tells me that this is "normal"  and is where the 3rd seat would be mounted. Does anyone else have this issue and is it "normal" as they say. I am worried that it can only get worse.
