West Coast of Scotland - Advice sought

The OH and me are thinking of doing a 3 week trip to the West Coast of Scotland in May of this year.  As I have never visited Scotland before other than the major cities, I would welcome other members' ideas on the best places to go and the best sites to
stay on.  We are going in our van conversion motorhome.
