Can't afford a Land Rover?

Guys, I will start agreeing with the idea that a good towcar is not necesarily a 4x4, but for those who need one we agree that Dicos are the best. Big problem is that not everyone can afford one :(.

So, what would be the best cheaper alternative for those with heavier caravans ( > 1600kg.)? Note that fuel economy when driving solo is very important.
