Easy way to break in
just been to caravan in storage to find all upholstery had been stolen,no signs of forced entry no broken or forced windows, police were of the opinion thieves had managed to duplicate or found what key it was, turns out they had used the number plate,we found
it nearby they had ripped it of the back of van and slid it down the door frame (like the credit card often seen in films) when you look at the gap between the door and frame you can see how easy it is mines a lunar but a lot of vans look similar,as there
is a track on the door will be taking action to stop repeat attacks

We stayed on a site in the South of France some yeas ago and a coule of thieves broke into lots of caravans, including ours, apparently in full view of everybody. They probably took 30 seconds to pop the door lock and turn all the cupboards out. Fortunately
we had all valuables with us but one couple left the keys to their Merc. in the van and the thieves drove off in it!The door lock needed repair but our dealer said that if we had had a secure lock fitted they would have used a jemmy to force it and done even more damage.

My view as well. About 6 years ago three caravans where broken into on our road. There were caravans stored on about 6 'vans on the road. My neighbours van was one of them. Because the thief had put a screwdriver between door and frame and struck it the
damage was minimal. However a full size awning and various other items were taken0 -
taken all your comments on board, and yes the windows do look easy, fitted a fiamma framelock on the door, and will probably fit a cover in attempt to deter have to agree though if low life want something they will stoop low to try and take it bring back
corporal punishment i say!!0 -
The Lunar uses a Hartal door and most other firms use these so they are all as vulnerable to this. At least it did not do any damage which in itself is unusual.
If it was the upholstery they were after this is unusual unless you have a twin axle where the people who live in them find the seats are not up to the wear they get

The normal caravan door keys only come in 200 variants apparantly. When I forgot our keys taking it for a damp check they just produced a bunch of them and tried them till one fitted. Scary really.

We had something similar happen in France - no damage to the caravan but lots of things taken - including the awning cover but not the poles, the hoover, but not the tools, my favourite manicure set - etc! We thought they must have used a key.
This year we picked our caravan up from storage in France, when the owner had gone missing, and access was organised through the Mairie. The helpful French lady brought the notice board of keys out and we picked out our 'Barrons' key ring and opened the door - OH commenting that it seemed more difficult than usual. Only when we went to remove the hitchlock, and tried to find the hitchlock key, did we realise that the bunch of keys wasn't ours! There were two identical key rings from Barrons - and ours was the other one but the wrong key had opened our door!
In France early in our trip someone on site had lost their keys and simply went around asking other owners if their key fitted his lock - ours did (but interestingly, when he found his key, it wouldn't open our door!)

Not sure how old your caravan is but as the lock wears there is a chance that similar designs will open the lock. Our Lunar though has a unique key so it should not happen with that.

OK until the power supply fails, then you'll need a tin-opener.

there was a Concorde parked opposite us a few months ago, they had only had the van a week or two...
as it was raining, and this sort of stuff needed to go into the garage, all the boots and coats came off outside and then the fun started as they tried to get into the van (in the rain)...one try after another, just couldnt get it right.....but managed eventually....must
have been very frustrating....0
