..... I also believe that rear foglights should not be used unless it is severe fog (less than 100 metres), they dazzle and  ....

Oh how I wish that people wouldn't turn their rear fogs at the slightest whiff of fog and especially around town. In 35+yrs of driving I doubt I've ever had need of them on more than a hand full of times! And they get uppety when you sit behind them with your main beam on! Innocent

Having been driving for 44 years I saw some right pea soupers during the first 6 years or so with council workers putting out something like flare pots to mark traffic iaslands.

When I went for my driving test it was cancelled due to such a pea souper. Instructor would not let me drive back and managed to go wrong side of a traffic island. We only realised when we met a car coming the other way. Fortunately we were both at a slow
walking pace. No fog lights in those days. However, I agree in more recent years I don't think I have required them more than a handful of times.

If the USA and a country as crowded as Japan manage without them, I'm sure we can

    Jeff,

I dont think my opinion holds any more water than anyone elses. I work in law enforcement and roadside advice is all that is given. Can you tell the difference when you are mobile between  which  lights showing at the front of a vehicle are DRL,s Fogs or
auxiliary lighting ? No neither can I.

Fog lights by design do not usually dazzle. How many of these incidents are forgetful people leaving High Beam on ?

Not what i asked i asked if you condoned people breaking the law because that is what your post reads like. Didn't ask what you did for a livingWink. Use left and right arrows to navigate.

Thats your opinion Jeffcc and your entitled to it . I condone no intentional breaking of the law but if you feel strongly enough about this scandalous flouting of the laws of the road make a report to your local force .. where you will be given "suitable" words of advice i,m sure before you leave.
