It takes far too long to boil a kettle so we have a flask of hot water.

Interesting comment about gas on the move. We have a built-in LPG tank and the regulator is designed to be used in motion (I think it shuts off if there is an impact), however, Auto-sleepers inhibit operation of the gas system when the engine is on. As soon
as you stop, the gas is available and the fridge switches over. I am not sure but I believe A/S consider it unsafe to operate gas whilst moving.

Wink Just to widen the subject to include caravanners, when I'm driving on a reasonably straight stretch of motorway, I attach an abseiling rope to Mr ValDa, then I stop on the hard shoulder,  and send him into the caravan to put the kettle on and ring me when it's boiled.

If he manages without the kettle falling off the hob, the mugs smashing when they fall off the worktop, the coffee falling out of the overhead locker on a bend, and the fridge emptying the contents all over the caravan floor, then I get a decent brew when he rings me to pull over on to the hard shoulder and he brings the mugs back in.

If he fails to complete the task then we buy a coffee at the next service stop.

I refuse to make the coffee, as I don't want to be stereotyped!

    PS  Tongue firmly in cheek!Cool

Of course we ex-yachties are used to brewing up whilst pitching around at angles up to 30 degrees. Tongue Out

Quit so, CY. Many's the brew I've made during 20+ years as navigator on offshore races. The secret is a 'bum-strap' at the cooker and wedging the mugs in the sink when filling them.

Upon reflection I find it hard to believe that I used to enjoy it.

On a similar topic, we got stuck in an extremely slow moving queue on the M25 last year. Suffice to say that I was driving with legs crossed. This was with the caravan so now with the MH I think I might be tempted to wander down the back of the van to the
loo with OH keeping place in the queue. It's probably illegal like most good ideas.

Good heavens! You worry too much. That's the Wonder of  Motorhomes!

O/H has occasionally picked me up after work and I've had a couple of hours kip in the back, had a wash, put me teeth back in and made a brew as we cross the Tamar.

    (Other foolhardy adventures are available).

    A drink during our journey?

When our Chauffeur has brought the Motorhome to a standstill the Butler wakes us up, announces tiffin time and serves a piping hot cup of Darjeeling.

    That's the joy of Motorhoming.

I wouldn't recommend this, but.......I knew someone who used to cook a roast dinner whilst travelling in their motorhome. Got to be the ultimate that (unless you know different of course). Arrive on site, handbrake on, sit down and eat.

I do that, not a roast though, using a slow cooker running off our inverter. I have had lamb shanks out of it with spuds and carrots.

Peegeenine, make sure your battery is being charge while doing so otherwise you may find you have a dead battery and an uncooked dinner on arrival. Unlike some motorhomes, my 12volt system is not disabled when the ignition is on

I hard wired my inverter direct onto the leisure batteries, via a fuse and socket, so it should work.
