We'll need it someday . . .

It is now the time of year when many caravanners prepare their 'van for the winter months.  Some take out everything and others just give it a tidy up. Whatever you do, you will be reviewing everything that you carry around in the 'van.

Some things will be in frequent use and others not so. What item(s) do you carry around "just in case" that you know you will never need?

I enquired from my girlfriend recently why she needed a third set of heated rollers of a different type. She replied that they were microwaveable rollers in case she could not use the conventional ones because the power was off.

I bought a natty little cake cover ( sort of like a mesh umbrella without a handle) for our outside dining. It was in a tat shop we browse, was cheap, and folded up small. But we never used it!Embarassed

We bought a set of flat(ish) electronic scales because the old set of scales couldn't hold a great deal of pasta in its basket. It's one of those with a dial and a clock face but it was handy as there was a nice space for it in a cupboard by the cooker.
The new scales went under the seats and guess what? Yep, I continue to use the old scales and just measure the pasta twice. Strike 1 for old school.

We have a set of plastic tracks in case we get bogged down. They seem to work a treat as we have never had to use them despite them being probably at least 10 years old. Most of the other rubbish got thrown out when we changed the caravan but there was a
    lot of it.

We had 3 biscuit tins of "we'll need it someday" bits in caravan when we got it.

Suffice to say, we managed to thin this down to an ice cream tub!

I put a brilliant head mounted torch in the motoroam about 12 yrs ago and have never used it. The sad thing is that when I tested it last year ( yes, it was a boring day) I had to fit new batteries.
    Undecided

Being an engineer I have a set of tools, along with things that have been kept just in case. Why????

Our most useful item has been the little pop-on light for the loo. Means we don't have to put the full light on in the middle of the night....we have reached that age!

I have carried a small scissor jack in the front locker for over 30 years and until today only used it once over 25 years ago when I had a flat tyre on the caravan on a site. A new arrival has just dropped the A frame onto the ground when the jockey wheel
dropped while he was using the motor mover to put the caravan onto the peg. The jack proved its worth to lift the A frame to allow the slightly bent jockey wheel to be reset.

The site would be waterlogged and impossible to get off without them.
