Work is now well underway on a huge roads infrastructure project in central Scotland. It includes widening parts of the M73 and M74 to four lanes, constructing a new motorway parallel to the A8(T) and threading a new section of dual carriageway A725 underneath
the M74 and Raith Interchange (J5), which is where the CC Strathclyde Park Site is located.

The works are now at a stage where traffic is being diverted onto new/temporary roads and lane closures are coming into place. While much has been made of minimising disruption by keeping two lanes in each direction open at all times, it is quite likely
you will find that traffic will have to queue up to use them! There is also to be a speed restriction (believed to be 40mph) enforced by average speed cameras.

These roads are a frequently used by holidaymakers coming to and from Scotland and unfortunately there are no sensible local diversions. So if you are planning to pass through this area I suggest you also plan extra time (or perhaps a stop at Strathclyde
Park). Trying to avoid the worst by travelling at night may not always work as some of the more disruptive activities will be carried out then!

[Deliberately NOT put into "Road Closures" as the point is trying to keep them open]
