Baffled when booking a pitch

could some one please explain, with awning,? without awning? because people seen to put awning's up on both types of pitches, or is it that everybody book's, a no awning because you get hard standing .

because i have booked no awning pitch and when i have got to the site the wardens have said set up where you like? even though the site is fully booked ?
