Flat Motorhome Battery

I keep my camper (a 2011 Fiat Ducato) in storage and therefore do not have access to electricity. My problem is that after a month or so the battery on the van goes flat and will not start the vehicle.
I have seen advertised solar panels that can be placed on the dashboard and are connected to the battery via the 12v socket (rated at 180w in the Fiat). This seems an ideal solution to me as I do not want to remove the battery connections as this would
disconnect the alarm, but I have been told that for these to work the ignition needs to be switched on, and obviously leaving the key in the van is not an option.

Can anyone tell me if these work and advise the minimum output required from a solar panel to keep the van battery charged, if my socket would accept this level of charge, and also any manufacturers/products you would recommend.
