LR Discovery detachable tow bar

I have a 2014 factory fitted detachable towbar.   I am having issues with the car towing.   LR believe the detatchable tow bar is not the best for heavier vans (mines a twin axle coachman).   One thing I have noticed is with the tow bar fitted, if I place
my hand on the swan neck I can move the tow bar a millimeter or 2 upwards and you can actually hear the top of the tow bar clinking in its enclosure.   Can anyone tell me is this normal?
