Which Jack - Trolley or Bottle

Like many others I have a twin axle and need to jack it up to fit the alko wheel locks.    I have been using a trolley jack up until now.   Shove it between the wheels and align with the cross brace (which is conveniently not located in the centre gap but
near the wheels.   Manual says you must use the cross brace :-(

I find that when I let the trolley jack down the van inveitably moves a little jamming the alko wheel locks in place.

I am wondering whether this is because the trolley jack does not perform a straight lift.  To that end I was thinking about changing to a bottle jack.   The bottle jack seems to have a much smaller lifting area however.

Do you think a bottle jack would be a better proposition and if so does any one know of one where you can get a convertor or something to increase the size of the lifting surface.  Preferably a rubber or something similar so you can use the jack without
having to stick a block of wood between the jack plate and the van body.

But I guess the main question is if the bottle does a straight lift will that reduce the likelihood of the wheels moving when it is lowered?
