The problem at the moment with EV's is range and recharge times, weight is actually about the only advantage for caravanners! Just waiting for the report in 10-20 years time which says petrol emmisions are actually as bad/worse than diesel...... (they are but at the moment diesel is targeted because you can easily see the exhaust)he benefits of EV/Hybrids are negated by the need to build massive power generation infrastructure, recycling of toxic materials from dead batteries, penalising those who live in terrace housing/flats etc who cannot access a secure charging point and so on. The wholesale use of EV's is purely a dream of politicians who do not live in the (real) world occupied by their voters.

Is this why Amazon are introducing drone deliveries in anticipation of the demise of white van man.

Head in the sand? Anybody who reads technical articles will realise that electric vehicles are a reality. Although battery technology is only improving slowly, developments in lighter materials and small battery improvements will mean that 200 mile range will be achievable within about 3-5 years. Batteries are now being used to store tens of megawatts of power to act as standby to power stations. Charging infrastructure is improving dramatically.

True, replacing all hydrocarbon vehicles would require 50% more generation capacity but lorries, motorhomes etc. will be last on the list.

With regard to pollution, it is far easier to control emissions at the power station than at individual vehicles. Nuclear, wind and solar power have no emissions. Batteries can be recycled.

I like the current "in" term which is for those driving fully electric cars which is "range anxiety" self explanatory, this increases when trying to perform a longer drives to places outside highly populated areas.  For those who currently worry about a route to safely tow their caravans just imagine having to factor in charging points, access, and that range anxiety.

Judging by what is put on the news of late there will be bigger issues to spoil our nice little lives!

Lots of articles on electric vehicles so I've attached one. I make no comment except to say that car manufacturers come to different conclusions
