Nunnykirk Access

I was driving past Nunnykirk CC site today and noticed that the B6342 (the recommended route to the site by the club) will be closed for 5 days from Wednesday 16th March for roadworks between Rothley Crags and Fontburn reservoir.

This means that anyone booked onto Nunnykirk will have to access the site via Rothbury, and given that there is a huge diversion already in place to get to Rothbury because of a long term road closure due to a landslip at Paperhaugh, I'm afraid that this
weekend is not a good time to be visiting Nunnykirk.

I was thinking about putting it there myself but thought that with it being so close to the site opening i wanted to give as many people as possible the chance to see it.

Good post JohnG. The Paperhaugh closure caught us out a couple of years ago, luckily we were solo. Are there no plans to reopen road do you know?

I understand that they are in the process of resurfacing that road now and it is expected to reopen within the next couple of months.

The club should add problems like this to the sites web page with details of revised routes and email those booked in for the affected period.

Write your comments here...The road through Paperhaugh has now been re-opened. The locals must be relieved!

We're due at Nunnykirk a week today. Is the road fully reopened yet?
