Caravan battery charging

This is a question for all the automotive/ caravan electrical wizards out there.

I know that caravan battery built in chargers typically have a top charging voltage of about 13.8V, and it is recommended that a charger that outputs at 14.4V (?) is best, at least occasionally, to top the battery up fully and extend its life. (Cleans the
plates better?)

My question is, when in transit, being towed by a car with charging and fridge pins sorted, does the battery get a 14.4V charge from the car? Is this sufficient, say over a 5 hour journey?

I'm sure this would interest others as well. Thanks in advance for your wisdom.
