Outcome of earlier post re underpowered motorhome
Finally solved the problem. Took the vehicle to a fiat dealership who could find nothing wrong with the engine, at a cost of £100. Eventually took the bull by the horns and after 4 years of frustrating driving, contacted the dealership who sold me the vehicle
new and charged me £400 for having the vehicles engine remapped, and told them I suspected the engine had never been remapped although they charged me for it. They arranged for me to have the vehicle checked by the firm who were supposed to have remapped the
engine. I made a holiday of it and travelled the 400 miles to the dealership and had the engine checked . Low and behold the remappers checked their books and could find no trace of my vehicle having been done. They checked the engine and it was still the
factory settings ie 130hp. They remapped the engine to 157hp and now the vehicle drives as it should. Complained bitterly to the dealership and have been awaiting their response for 2 weeks. Seems they have had my £400 for over 4 years for a job they never
did and might not have come to light if it was not my insistence that the remapping had not been done. Thing is you pay good money for a job such as this but there is no way of checking it has been done unless you sit at their shoulder to see it being done.
Trouble here was the vehicle was delivered new to my door and I only had the invoice and salesman's word that the engine had been remapped.
