XC90 or Kia Sorento

Hi everyone,

I need to change my car to a heavier tow car probably this weekend. I have two main options, kia sorento kx-2 2.2 2014 with 13500 miles (21k) or Volvo xc90 2014 with 18200 miles 27.5k. They both have sat nav and similar equipment levels, bith7 seats, The
Kia gives me 87% match the Volvo better but a lower towball weight of 90kg. The Volvo looks like it will take me more luggage. We transport my wife's mobility scooter broken down as well as awnings, bikes etc. I also try to keep other heavy stuff such as tins
of food, drink etc in the car whilst travelling. I am seeking opinion as to which would be the best choice. The Kia is more efficient and cheaper to tax (and buy) but the Volvo looks the better car.

If this helps, my Sorento is 11 years old and still going strong.

My XC90 is the best tow car I've owned......and it followed a Jeep Grand Cherokee and Toyota Landcruiser

Volvo has slightly more leg room if that's important......I'm about 6 ft 1 and found tbe Kia cramped but the Volvo just about ok

Thanks all. I'll let you know what I buy. The Volvo appeals. The Kia is cheaper though.

Something to consider before choosing is reliability.  Kia are so confident in their build quality that they back that up with an industry leading 7 year warranty.

Volvo on the other hand  are unable to guarantee their build quality and only offer a measly warranty period.

    Says a lot.

We and two of our friends have Kias ,the 7yr warranty give a no quibble peace of mind, not that any of us have needed it for anything major, and one sorrento is 6yrs this year, and they have all the bell and whistles of most other "premium" makes

We had a bad experience with a Sorrento last year which has now put me off Kia's after owning them for years. (prop shaft broke, ruining the auto transmission.)

The best tow car we've had was a Kia Carens.
Like you we needed the space for a mobility scooter, wheelchair etc which this gave us. Wish we had never 'upgraded' to a Sedonna.

We now own a Volvo V70 estate which is nearly a roomy as the Carens was, but I personally would have gone for the XC90 over the V70.

Test drive both and buy the one you like. You will not go wrong with either of them really.
