Touring from NI to longleat -any advice?

hi, I have just joined the Club in anticipation of touring to longleat in early July with my wife and kids (9&12). I was thinking of going Belfast to Liverpool ferry and then down the motorway, but returning via the Cotswolds. Has anyone any advice or thoughts
on sites and ferry crossings?
