Wi-fi connection
Hello everyone, so sitting here in my van at Lady Margret's, using my 4g on my phone, as the £25 I paid is not connecting.Was great last night, sit only a quarter full, and it's struggling to load club site on google.Thought the WI-fi had been upgraded to
a superdooper system

As stated,the cc wifi is not expected to be used for downloading tv./video ,it is on sites for the use of checking emails and web searches as there is not the Bandwidth to cope with other uses like there is in good internet areas of the uk,whereas in rural
areas as most sites are it is on national news all the time about poor internet speeds0 -
Where did you get the information it had been upgraded? The latest bulletin just says it was being surveyed for possible upgrading later this year. If not upgraded, it is only a bronze site, and the CC specify the following.
A bronze site's location and the capacity of the local exchanges mean that we are only able to get one or two copper-based broadband connections to the site. Basic web browsing will work but please note that data heavy applications (e.g. Instagram, Facebook, SnapChat) will struggle and cause disruption to the rest of the site users. ...No it means as in a large majority of rural areas internet capacity is poor,but cc internet still cheaper than what the house further down the lane from the cc site is paying

Maybe for the requirementsof many users the sites' wifi is fine and £25 reasonable.
I don't disagree with you at all. But my point was, why buy the CC wifi at £25 if you can get far superior 4G in the area anyway?
Maybe the OP's package doesn't allow him to download much data?

I am not sure how often you have tried to get online at a motorway service station hotspot and these are well up to 21st century specs. However, get enough folk trying to use them at once and they get clogged. Even 4G can suffer, the speed differences at
rush hour in London, during our recent stay, were most noticeable. Basically you have to work with what is available and one / two copper cables several miles long is never going to be good.0 -
On the sites I have used I've never had any problems with the wifi. Slower than home but usable to check news, weather, and of course CT

We found York Beechwood Grange almost unworkable when the site was full and just about workable during the day. Blackpool was almost imposdible to get on but Chester first class on the last three CC sites we were on. Basically it is as good as the Openreach
supply so is infinitely variable but generally will not support those who want serious amounts of data.0 -
We stayed on a 'rustic' site for one of our summer holidays. There was no mobile phone signal, no internet connection, just a short walk to a fantastic beach for surfing and coasteering. One of the most enjoyable and relaxing
family holidays we've had.
If keeping in touch in the real or ether world we can drive to get a signal. This caravanning lark opens up some great off grid opportunities.

Loving the replies,some obviously haven't read my post, which is good for a laugh, oh it's 2am, and the internet is working spot on, and before anyone say's it has trouble when sit is full,there's only 12 vans here,10 went home yesterday
IanH......i think you'll find, in order to find out how good the site wi-fi is, you actually have to pay for it to find out, and it is Wales, 4g not that reliable in this neck of the woods
And JVB66........no mention of me downloading, just watching a clip on FB,which was 1 min 20 seconds long

JCW - misunderstanding- you said you were using 4G which usually indicates that you are getting really good reception.....better than 3G. Hence why I questioned why you needed wifi.
I never said that the CC wifi was 'good' as I don't know where you are. It's usually good enough for emails etc and that's about it.

As far as I am aware, to view the video you still require the same bandwidth as if you were permanently downloading it and this is the priblem on a bronze site. You did not mention where you got the information re the wifi upgrade. As I put earlier I can
see no mention of this being completed. Was it from the wardens?0 -
with you SteveL, I'm at Chirk, and as far as i'm aware it has had the upgrade done.I used FB as an example, in my post, i said, i was using my 4G, as i couldn't get onto the Club site, in my second post after 20 odd minutes, it finally connected. Now down
to 12 vans on site and most of the time it works, have a feeling, someone close to the office may of been streaming0 -
Chirk, LMPark, is only a bronze site, wifi there is not great.
According to the summer 2016 wifi news, the aite has been surveyed to see if an upgrade is possible.
Presumably nothing else has happened as yet.
We were there in June, it was pretty dire at times.
