No longer a UK resident according to Staysure

It appears to me that getting insurance for more than 90 days travel in a Motorhome or Caravan is even more difficult than in past years especially once you hit the 70's, but just recently we came accross a new twist to refusal when we applied once more
to Staysure with whom we have had our travels covered for a number of years.

On making contact via phone and giving all the necessary details when asked if we had been resident in the UK for the past 6 months we answered no, we returned home from a trip in Europe in June this year, this resulted in a refusal for cover because we
had not been resident in the UK for the last 6 months and apparently Staysure's Underwriters regard us as no longer being residents of the UK?

I am baffled by this, since when does a UK resident, born in the UK, has Bank accounts in the UK, has a home address in the UK, pays Tax in the UK is no longer considered a resident by a group of Underwriters who have no lawful reason to class you as no
longer resident when the Government of the UK states that a resident of the UK can come and go whenever he or she pleases and not lose their right of residency. (Have a look under YouGov.)

Surely this is 'Law' making by a group making up it's own rules outside of a legal Government, bad enough when one has to struggle to find good long term insurance without groups making up rules which they declare makes you non resident in the Country of
your birth.

Needless to say after searching on the Internet we found a Company happy to accept us as clients at a reasonable price, in fact slightly cheaper than Staysure so I guess the Underwriters did us a favour.
