VW T5 Towing Performance?

Has anyone experience of towing a caravan with a converted VW T5? I am sure I have seen several on site and would welcome any views such as capabilities, best engine size, manual or automatic (DSG?), 4-motion,
SWB or LWB etc. 

Looking at swapping a Land Cruiser for a T5 capable of towing a recent Swift Conqueror 645. Possibly a Autohaus conversion.
