Scam or not? Be very careful
I recently received an enquiry from a potential buyer about my Motorhome that is presently for sale through the Caravan Club.
The first email I received read: 'Is there anything else included'?
I responed that there were a few Items that were negotiable.
The second email I received read:
What is your final asking price and do you have a PayPal account,as i will be paying the with PayPal and have pick up done from your location as i am away at the moment. In the meantime, can
you send me more pictures?
By now I was very suspicious and so replied:
Sorry, cash on collection only.
I heard no more from him!
I have the name and email address of this potential scammer should anyone in authority request it. (I am wary of posting it hear in case I am infringing someones human rights!)
The main reason for posting this is to warn others should they receive a similar email.
But I'm also concerned whether the Club is doing enough to protect it's members from potential scams?
Perhaps there should be a specific section in the forums headed 'Scams and Scammimg' where these topics can be aired for all to see at a glance (Rather than hunting around other sections
of the site).
There is also the more obvious adverts, and many of them at times, where the prices being asked are so obviously too good to be true that surely they should not be accepted for publication?
