Should caravanners serve an apprenticeship?

I spent the best part of 25 years camping in the UK and all over Europe before my wife and I bought our first van. I was taught by my parents how to be frugal with water, manage waste water, create a larder, use the car battery for lighting, light a primus
stove, tidy a pitch before leaving etc. We now enjoy the comforts of a caravan but wonder how people would manage without EHUs, aquarolls, wastemasters, hard standings.

Wouldn't it be nice if all vanners undertook training under canvas before becoming van owners? Have we lost site of what the outdoor life is all about?
