Awning or Not?

Where is the line drawn as to when an awning becomes a tent or a tent becomes an awning?

I have a small motorhome and use a small utility tent to house our bikes, camping chairs etc. when we are parked up so as to give us more room in the van.  It is also handy when we go out for the day in the van as we don't have to take everything with us. 
Some sites, however, do not allow tents which could prevent me from using them or does it?

My tent is, by the way, a lot smaller than most awnings that you see attached to some vans.
