When is a Holiday not a Holiday?

I have been retired for nearly three years now, apart from some occasional work for my ex-employer, so I don't need a holiday nor do I need "relaxation". We go away a lot - caravan, cruises, city breaks etc. - but non of these are "holidays"  they are adventures,
change of scenery, keeping boredom at bay, whatever. How do other retirees view this "away time" and how do you explain to friends that it's not really a holiday, more a way of life?
