Awnings on Hard Standings

This is probably a dumb question for anybody who uses Club sites but we have only stayed at one or two and the last one was Hunters Moon after the renovation. Have no plans to repeat the experience but I am still curious to know how you are supposed to fix
an awning in place. We have a fixed continental style Fiamma canopy and I could not peg down the two support poles as the hard standing is largish pebbles.  What are you supposed to do?
